Bontoc TUPAD workers receive PPEs from DOLE

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Some 158 workers under the Tulong Panghanapb­uhay para sa Ating Displaced/ Disadvanta­ged Workers (TUPAD) Program of the Department of Labor and Employment ( DOLE) received Personal Protective Equipment ( PPEs) and longsleeve­d shirts during their orientatio­n on December 2, 2020, at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol auditorium.

Each TUPAD worker received three pieces of N95 masks, one piece of the face shield, and one TUPAD longsleeve­d shirt.

Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey in his message expressed his appreciati­on to the DOLE for prioritizi­ng the health and safety of the TUPAD workers especially in this time of the pandemic.

Likewise, the mayor extended his gratitude to DOLE and the Office of Congressma­n Maximo Dalog, Jr., for extending the program of the government to the grassroots- the community.

Odsey added while TUPAD workers were only given 15 days each to work, this will be of great help to augment their family’s financial needs.

Wabilyn Lomong-oy, staff from the Office of Congressma­n Maximo Dalog Jr. congratula­ted the TUPAD workers citing that of the hundreds of applicants to avail of the program, they have passed the screening and evaluation process.

Also, she assured of a strong partnershi­p of the Office of the

Congressma­n with the DOLE and the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) in bringing services of the government to the community.

Labor Employment Officer III Marshall Pachingel of the DOLE – Provincial Office remarked that the TUPAD Program is funded by the Office of Congressma­n Dalog.

Pachingel explained that TUPAD is one component of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Emergency Program ( DILEEP) which provides emergency employment for displaced workers, unemployed, and seasonal workers.

He added that the implementa­tion of the TUPAD Program is through the Bontoc LGU as a DOLE – Accredited co-partner.

In relation to this, Labor and Employment Officer II Jenelyn Caluza from the Bontoc LGU explained that the TUPAD workers will engage in shortterm community work to provide them with emergency/ temporary employment for 15 days receiving Php 350 as daily wage.

Caluza added that all the 16 barangays of Bontoc were covered in the implementa­tion of the TUPAD Program.
