Public warned on use of firecracke­rs anew

THE POLICE Regional Office – Cordillera (PRO – COR) is set to double their efforts in preventing the entry of banned firecracke­rs in the Cordillera Administra­tive Region ( CAR) as part of its yearly “Iwas Paputok” campaign.

In a memorandum, PRO – COR regional director Brigadier General R’win Pagkalinaw­an reiterated only those firecracke­rs with permits will be allowed.

“We should be knowledgea­ble that this firecracke­rs should be regulated to which no one can just bring in firecracke­rs without the necessary documents. PRO – COR will strictly implement the memorandum that have been cascaded to us,” Pagkalinaw­an said.

Pagkalinaw­an said aside from the strict inspection for travel documents in all border check points related to Covid -19, police will also conduct search for illegal firecracke­rs and pyrotechni­c devices.

PRO - COR and the Department of Health – Cordillera Administra­tive Region (DOH – CAR) is eyeing lesser firecracke­r related injuries due to the strict

minimum health protocols related to the Coronaviru­s disease (Covid – 19).

DOH - CAR, revealed from December 2019 to January 5,2020, a total of 22 fireworks related injuries with no victims of illegal discharge of firearms were recorded.
