San Fernando cites valley traders, officials
A CITY in La Union recently expressed gratitude to vegetable traders and officials of La Trinidad, Benguet.
Thru a resolution, the City Government of San Fernando, La Union led by Mayor Alfredo Ortega, Vice - Mayor Maria Rosario Eufrosina Nisce and the constituents of the city expressed their profound gratitude to the farmers, disposers, traders and volunteers of La Trinidad for their generous donation of vegetables to the city.
“The City Government of San Fernando and its people know that no amount of words can truly express the depth of our gratitude for the generous donation of such basic commodity for our constituents in time of desperate needs," the resolution reads.
On the motion of Councilor Antonio Jucar seconded by Councilor Rizalde Laudencia, the City Council expressed gratitude to the farmers and volunteers headed by Clemench Basilio Lapas through the initiative
of Mayor Romeo Salda and Vice-Mayor Roderick Awingan for their generous donation of vegetables.
Aldermen said barangays San Agustin, Parian, and Pias were placed under heightened enhanced community quarantine due to the increasing number of cases of Covid- 19 caused by the local transmission.
The residents of the barangays under heightened ECQ are restricted to travel and move out of their homes making it difficult for them to have access of commodities which can only be bought from supermarkets and bazaars.
“The farmers of La Trinidad, Benguet voluntarily donated their vegetable produce to the barangays in the city of San Fernando to help support the residents’ daily sustenance with the help and support of their volunteers, disposers and traders,” added the resolution.
Last September, the City Council in Baguio also expressed heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the LGU-La Trinidad, legislators, volunteers, stall owners and farmers who provided free vegetables to the people of Baguio amidst the pandemic.
