Local boxing promoter oppose HB 1526

A BILL banning minors from joining in full contact competitive sports may do more harm than good, according to a local boxing promoter.

Brico Santig of the Highland Boxing Promotions said children may lose interest in sports once the proposed bill ‘An Act Banning Minors from FullContact Competitive Sports or House Bill 1526 filed by Ako Bicol representatives Alfredo Garbin Jr. and Elizaldy Co is approved.

“Mawawala interest ng mga bata, mag bibisyo na lang. Opposed kami dyan. Sa Pilipinas, karamihan sa naging world champion including Manny Pacquaio, Jerwin Ancajas ,and Carl James Martin ay nag start sila sa professional na 16 – years – old,” said Santig.
