P1.5-M worth of weed torched

SOME P1.57 million worth of marijuana plants were eradicated in the Province of Benguet on December 7 and 8, as part the Police Regional Office – Cordillera’s ( PRO – COR) continuous campaign against illegal drugs.

On December 7, two marijuana eradicatio­n operations were separately conducted in Bakun and Kibungan, Benguet.

Authoritie­s uprooted 2,400 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants cultivated in a public lot with an estimated land area of 600 square meters with an estimated Standard Drug Price ( SDP) of P480,000 in Sitio Gilgil, Barangay Kayapa in Bakun.

In Kibungan, some 4,250 pieces fully

grown marijuana plants worth P850,000 were discovered in Sitio Alingaw and Sitio Naboy-o,Barangay Poblacion with an estimated land area of 850 square meters.

On December 8, another marijuana eradicatio­n operation was conducted in Sitio Baoedan in Kayapa with 1,200 pieces fully grown marijuana plant cultivated in a 200 square meters land having an estimated street value of P240,000.

Since December 1, PRO – COR uprooted 7,892 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants and 597 pieces of marijuana seedlings worth P1,602,280.

In Baguio City, a drug pusher was arrested during a buybust operation in Dagohoy Street, Barangay Kagitingan.

Mike Maqui Jimenez ‘ aka’ Mike Kevin Ramos, 26, and a resident at T. Alonzo St., was apprehende­d by the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Station 7 headed by Police Major Marlo Evasco, BCPO Drug Enforcemen­t Unit and the Criminal Intelligen­ce Unit (CIU) December 10.

Confiscate­d during the operation are three sachets of shabu weighing close to five grams worth P3,400 and the buy-bust money.
