Gilas to clash with South Korea twice in FIBA qualifiers

-

THE Gilas Pilipinas will be facing off against arch- nemesis South Korea twice in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers this February in Clark, Pampanga.

After coming away with two dominant wins over Thailand in the recently concluded

second window, the Gilas will have their work cut out for them when they tangle with Korea on February 18 before clashing with Indonesia on February 20. They will then take on Korea a second time on February 22.

Korea was supposed

to compete in the second window but begged off due to concerns involving Covid-19.

Gilas is currently ahead in Group A with an immaculate 3- 0 win- loss record. It needs just one more win to book its ticket into the 2021 FIBA Asia

Cup, which will be staged in Lebanon next year.

Unlike the Philippines, Korea will have a tough schedule in the third window, needing to play four games in five days. Aside from the Philippines, Korea

will also have games against Indonesia and Thailand on November 19 and 20, respectively.

Aside from Group A, also having games inside the Clark “bubble” is Group C, which has Australia, New Zealand, Guam and Hong Kong. SunStar Cebu
