36 families benefit in PRO – COR livelihood program
THIRTY – six families from Tublay and Bokod, Benguet were the beneficiaries of the Police Regional Office - Cordillera's ( PRO - COR) "Badang Kabuhayan Project," a program under the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15) which aims to promote sustainable livelihood for targeted beneficiaries.
The RMFB15 through the 1505th Maneuver Company - Community Affairs Section crafted the program ensuring beneficiaries of steady source of livelihood amidst the pandemic.
Personal contributions collected from the members of the RMFB15 troops have paved the way for the establishment of a free range poultry farm at Barangay Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet which includes a 45-feet long poultry house and a bungalow to house the carers.
After coordination with the Veterinary Medicine Department of Benguet State University, 400 Sasso chicks were brought and distributed to fifteen selected families including out- ofschool youth with a continuous monitoring being conducted to ensure the program’s sustainability.
In consonance with the 18-Day Campaign to end Violence against Women, the “Badang Kabuhayan II” was launched in Barangay Ekip, Bokod, Benguet.
This joint project with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region (TESDA-CAR) aims to empower women’s group, organize and mobilize them to put up their own bakery shop.
Twenty – one women participated in a five- day training on bread and pastry making held at Ekip Barangay Hall on December
7 to 11, equipping with the necessary knowledge and skills.
An oven, gas tank and other baking materials were initially provided by TESDA as start-up for the select beneficiaries.
During the height of the enhanced community quarantine where people's livelihoods are affected and movements are restricted, police personnel went the extra mile to help those badly affected by the pandemic, aside from the grocery items provided to meet their immediate needs.
PRO – COR’s RMFB15 have teamed up with other government agencies in bridging their programs to the areas within the region that are susceptible to New People’s Army (NPA)terrorists deceptive propaganda, as part of their mandate in the whole-of-nation approach to end local communist armed conflict.
