BOC installs new Customs-10 collector
THE newly installed district collector of the Bureau of Customs in Northern Mindanao (BOC-10) has appealed to his co-workers to help him in achieving the agency’s P11-billion target for this year.
Jamail Marohomsalic, who assumed the BOC-10’s top post in a simple turnover ceremony Wednesday, July 19, is from the port of Davao. He replaced Tomas Alcid, whose next assignment is Aparri.
“I need your support. I cannot do this on my own,” Marohomsalic told BOC-10 officials and co-workers at the Customs district office in Barangay Macabalan.
Marohomsalic, who slowly gained the promotions, spent the last 25 years working in Davao, first as a security guard then later as Customs examiner.
“I rose from the ranks, from Customs security guard to being an examiner. Being a Customs examiner was enough for me. I’m [also] a licensed customs broker, and I know the job, but in my mind, that was enough for me. I don’t want to be separated from my family,” he said.
He said he has no ambition to become a district collector but could not refuse the order of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“I need to rise to the challenge given to me by the President and the [Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon],” he added.
