TESDA launches family enterprises program

with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

It was launched as a tool to help Filipino families build their own businesses or get employment opportunities especially now with the displacement of thousands of families following the Marawi City siege.

Some of the families eligible for this new program of TESDA include the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries; the poor families listed in DSWD's ‘Listahanan'; and the vulnerable sector such as the Persons with Disabilities (PWD), senior citizens or disaster victims.

According to DSWD's representative Randy Ladoros, the programs to be given to beneficiaries would depend on the needs or preferences of the families.

“The programs that we have for the beneficiaries will help them build their own businesses or assist them if they already have one. Or we could also help them acquire new skills for employment or assist them if they already have employers but they have a hard time going to their jobs,” Ladoros said.

Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano said the new TESDA program is yet another opportunity for target beneficiaries to improve their incomes.

“However, even if we have given all our efforts in this program, you the beneficiaries must place in mind that you have to help yourselves. Do not compete with one another but rather, make livelihoods that will complement each other,” Emano said.
