R-ACE Lao Warriors marched their way to the final after routing Bado Barbecue StationRomuls Production, 76-63 in the 2017 Baby James Cup Ballpals Inter-Color Basketball League 40-above semifinals on Saturday at brgy. 24 covered court here.
Agapito “Bato” Mercado pulled 19 points including 10 in the third quarter for the Warriors, while the Warriors’ main man Christopher `Tupi’ Carretas came up with 16 markers.
The Warriors never allowed Romuls to stain their twice-to-beat advantage as they dictated the whole quarters of the ballgame.
Right in the first quarter, the Warriors built an 11-point lead behind the aggressive starting five of Mercado, Carretas, Balong Mabalot, Arvin Martinez and Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro sports editor Lynde Salgados.
And with the equallyfired up Darwin Josol, Jerry `Gat’ Tamayo, Norman Lao and Dandan Guevara joining in the fray, the Warriors maintained a comfortable gap as they closed the half at 38-29.
Bado Barbecue’s Loloy Casiño and Ulysses Romulo propelled a threatening run with their three-point bombs midway of the third quarter that forced the Warriors to call for time-out.
With the needed instructions from the bench, the Warriors were quick to retaliate as they stretched their largest lead of the game at 18 and closed the third frame, still up by 12 points.
From there, the Warriors kept up their poise and composure to never look back.

Abucejo also relayed the good news to Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro that fellow Mason brother, Allen Dangcal has recently pledged support to the Baby James Cup.
“Si bro Allen na ang bahala sa mga medals and trophies in your awarding ceremony puhon puhon,” Abucejo said.
