Wilson 3X3 caging today at St. Mary’s

MORE than 60 teams from all over Mindanao are joining the start of the Wilson 3X3 basketball challenge Cagayan de Oro leg set at the St. Mary’s Academy gym in Bgry. Carmen.

According to local organizer James Racines the teams are are from as far as Zamboanga City to join the two-day tournament organzed by Motivation Builds Champions (MBC) group.

MBC head coach Goy Bagares and Wilson Brand Manager Errol Elicanal will be the guest of honor during the brief opening ceremony at 8 a.m. Competitio­n in the 18 Under (1999), 15 Under (2002) and 12 Under (2005) categories will then follow.

Other competing teams will come from Butuan, Roxas Zamboanga del Norte, Valencia, Camiguin, Malaybalay-Bukidnon, and from local schools USTP, Assumption Montessori School, Xavier High School, and St. Mary’s Academy. Cash prizes trophies and medals are at stake for the winners

The champion teams will also qualify to the Wilson 3X3 National championsh­ip in Manila. The winners and runner-ups will get Wilson basketball­s from tournament sponsor.

Racines will supervise the CdO leg with other MBC Manila coaches Errol Cajefe. Elicanal, Earl Ludwigvan Austria, Khasim Mirza, Racines is a champion coach of AMS. He led the Jaguars to the first and the only (NBTC) National Basketball Training Center Division II Secondary title last year in Manila.
