NGCP briefs media on WESM ahead of 2018 implementation
HE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) recently conducted an orientation on the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) for reporters from Iligan, Lanao del Norte and Cagayan de Oro at Limketkai Luxe Hotel, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
The WESM establishes basic rules, requirements and procedures for the operation of the Philippine electricity market. It is supervised by the Philippine Electricity Market Board (PEM Board).
Following the implementation of WESM in Luzon and Visayas, the process will be implemented in Mindanao in 2018.
NGCP Public Affairs Officer Mae Roselle Curiano said the orientation on the WESM will help the public understand the impact of the electricity spot market on their lives.
“Napili namo na hatagan ang media of Iligan Lanao del Norte and ORO og orientation on WESM because ang WESM will be implemented na karung 2018. It is important that our media people are knowledgeable enough about WESM so that the media can help us to let the public understand about WESM. Media plays a very significant role),”Curiano said.
Curiano said they hope the lecture will also help deepen the knowledge of their media partners especially on matters concerning the industry.
