No strong evidence yet against Galua

SUSPECTS must be positively identified along with substantial and concrete evidences.

Without these `ingredients’, a police official said the Rotoras murder case will remain unsolved.

Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa II, spokesperson of the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG), however, said investigation on the possible involvement of architect Rey Galua in the killing of University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) president Dr. Ricardo Rotoras will continue.

Galua has been identified as one of the four “Persons of interest’ who may have the knowledge of the incident.

This, even as authorities have clarified that Galua is not yet a suspect but a person whom investigators could use to get leads for the speedy solution of the case.

Galua was arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cagayan de Oro City (CIDG-CDOC) after his house yielded unlicensed guns and explosives.

Hortillosa said the initial interrogation on Galua regarding the Rotoras case may already have started.

“Siguro gihimo na ang pag-question wala lang ta kahibalo kay wala man naingon sa SITG,” Hortillosa said.

Investigators are still looking for evidences that could link Galua and the three other persons of interest to Rotoras.

“Gihimo sa mga investigators ang tanan para makakuha og mga ebidensya nga maconnect si Galua kang Rotoras,”he added.

The result of the ballistic examination on the firearms seized from the possession of Galua has yet to come out.

The SITG is also withholding other details and progress of the investigation while USTP officials keep mum on the employment records and projects designed by Galua.

However, Hortillosa said investigators are looking at all angles including the working relationship of Rotoras and Galua.

Galua was a former USTP faculty member and the architect of several buildings inside the campus.

“Remain unsolved pa gihapon siya pero naa na ta sa 70 percent kay naa naman ta mga circumstantial evidence pero dili pa enough para ma-file ang kaso kay dili pud ta gusto nga half-baked nga moresulta unya sa dismissal,”Hortillosa said.
