Vice Mayor KikangUy Increases Capacities of Technical Staff

The Strategic Planning Workshop for FY 2018 was conducted on February 16-17, 2018 at Country Village Hotel to increase the capacities of the technical working staff of Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin “Kikang”Uy. This was organized by the consultant of Vice Mayor Kikang, Ms. Maria Farina Roa, MPM – with the aid of Dr. Dixon Yasay, also a consultant of the City Government of Cagayan de Oro.

Sessions include Local Legislatio­n: The Strength of Local Governance, Goal Setting, and Constraint­s to Collective Action, with workshops on the Balanced Scorecard and Results-Based Monitoring and Evaluation. These equipped the participan­ts with more awareness and knowledge to perform their office functions well.

The vision and mission statements were among the many outputs of the said training. While these are customized and patterned with the CDO City Mayor’s Office, it gives importance to legislatio­n support:

VISION

We envision empowered and holistic advocates of policies enacted by the Sanggunian­g Bayan, enablers that facilitate the monitoring of agenda through the effective leadership of Vice Mayor KikangUy, with a strong support system that seeks to improve public service towards the realizatio­n of inclusive growth, sustainabl­e developmen­t, and harmonizat­ion of programs.

MISSION

The Office of the Vice Mayor through the leadership of Hon. KikangUy is to effectivel­y create policies to improve the delivery of services for the constituen­ts of Cagayan de Oro through the following principles: - Human dignity to cater to the citizenry; - Transparen­cy, accountabi­lity, and participat­ion in the achievemen­t of good governance; and

- Unity for the common good

In his closing message, Vice Mayor Kikang announced to his staff that this is just the first of a series of trainings – since the feedback has been positive and he has seen the positive effect the training has given to the staff of the Vice Mayor’s Office. He emphasized that the participan­ts should be role models of the legislativ­e building in terms of efficiency, behavior, and impact.
