Leaders of the Padayon Pilipino and Centrist Democratic Party (CDP) in Cagayan de Oro City have met over the weekend to initially talk on the possible slate for the 2019 midterm elections.

Padayon Pilipino vicepresident Leon Gan said the meeting was joined by former city mayor Vicente Emano, his daughter Nadia Elipe and excouncilors Ramon Tabor, Alexander Dacer, among others, and former and incumbent 2nd district representatives Rufus Rodriguez and Maximo Rodriguez Jr., respectively,

Gan, the present minority floor leader of the city council, said the meeting took place at the house of the Rodriguez’s on Sunday, September 23. Both parties had already forged political ties.

He said the two parties suggested some personalities to include in the lineup for the city council.

“Preliminary pa to nga tapok-tapok (It’s still preliminary talks). Naay mga (there are) suggestions

for possible candidates sa (for the) city council,”Gan said.

He said candidates for the mayoral and vice-mayoral posts have not been discussed yet.

Gan said the complete slate will be revealed once the party decided who to field for the city’s two top posts.

“Maong dili pa makapagawas sa listahan kay wala makadecide sa mayor ug bise-mayor. Sa naandan basin didto nana sa last hour (That’s why we can’t release it now because candidates for mayor and vice mayor have not been decided yet. Maybe it would be revealed on the last hour),”Gan said.

He said the two parties might meet again before the filing of the certificate of candidacy on October 11.

For his part, Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano on Monday said he has yet to make up his mind on what position he would possibly bid.

He said the party is still finalizing the complete line-up for the province.

“Gamay na lang kulang murag duna na lang 3 ka lungsod nga tul-iron (The list is still being finalized),”the younger Emano said.

“Wala pako kabalo aha ko modagan (I don’t know yet what position I would run for),”he added. ( Alwen Saliring)
