The 20th Siargao National Surfing Cup Brings PH’s Best Surfers to Cloud 9 from Sept 23-27

-

This year’s roster boasts Borongan surfer Daemiel Erzbet Argame in the Juniors Category as a new addition to the event, which already includes surfers from Zambales, La Union, Baler, Ilocos Norte, Manila, Cantilan, Catanduanes, Davao Oriental, and Siargao.

For the first time in history, the Siargao National Surfing Cup includes a Junior category for the 18-and-under surfers in addition to the existing Mens Shortboard Open category, boasting a total prize purse of ? 323,000 across the 2 categories.

PSCT Contest Director Joseph Olin is stoked to open the competition season in Siargao, explaining, “The Siargao National Surfing Cup is one of the longest running surfing competitions in the country and Cloud 9 is the country’s premier world-class surfing destination, and we want to do our best to protect it. That’s why for the first time we’re strictly banning single-use plastic throughout the whole competition period. We’re honored to be supported by the local government of General Luna and the Philippine National Police in enforcing this policy, not just to the organizers and participants but to the general public as well. We hope that other surfing destinations in the country follow our example to preserve and protect our natural resources.”

PSCT has again invited the Asian Surf Cooperative (formerly the Asian Surfing Championships) to sanction the event, who will be utilizing the Live Heat scoring system that allows anyone with a smartphone, tablet or laptop and internet connection to follow each heat score and view all the heat draws and results.

Head Judge Luke Landrigan will again oversee the judging panel for this event. Landrigan is a Level 2 International Surfing Association (ISA) judge.
