Oca supports probe on corrupt local officials

- PJ Orias

City Mayor Oscar Moreno welcomes the move of President Rodrigo Duterte to investigate corruption allegations of some local officials here by sending his Cabinet members.

“Suportado of course, wala may problema, maayo man atong lakaw (I support it of course, no problem with that, we are in good shape),” Moreno said.

Moreno is currently facing graft charges due to an action made during his stint as the provincial governor. All of which however he denied as corruption charges, as these projects have greatly benefited the people of Misamis Oriental, including building roads connecting barangays together.

Moreno said he is confident that these cases will not push through, pointing out that these are all politically-motivated and done by his opponents, former Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano and his son, incumbent Provincial Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano.

“Kanang mga kaso, of course hibalo man ta kinsa ang nagpasigunda ana (These cases of course we all know who initiated this), sila man Dongkoy ug Bambi (It’s Dongkoy and Bambi, pero (but) these cases will not fly,” he added

Governor Emano also welcomed this plan which is set on Friday, October 18, at Phividec, Tagoloan town, Misamis Oriental. Emano said this will be a good venue for people to bring to the president’s attention the corrupt practices of government officials, elected or appointed.

He said he is also proud that he is facing zero corruption cases today.

Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go brought this news in the city in his visit here last week, and urged ordinary citizens, including government or private workers to participate if they want to report corruption issues in government offices.
