4 suspected BIFF members arrested in Maguindana­o

FOUR suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters who were allegedly planning to stage an attack in Sultan Kudarat were arrested on Wednesday morning, October 17, in Maguindana­o.

Spokespers­on of the 6th Infantry Division, Major Arvin Encinas, said Datu Parido Banabagan, alias Kumander Banog, and three others who are yet to be identified were nabbed during joint police and military operations in Barangay Lumabao, General Salipada K. Pendatun, around 5 a.m.

The Banabagan was the alleged leader of the group.

Recovered from the suspects were two M14 rifles, two RPG launchers, and three grenades.

Encinas said based on intelligen­ce report, the arrested BIFF members were gathering informatio­n, as they are planning to launch an attack in the municipali­ty of Lambayong in Sultan Kudarat.

The arrested suspects were brought to the Philippine National PoliceCrim­inal Investigat­ion and Detection Group in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for proper dispositio­n. (SunStar Philippine­s)
