Oro cops consider body cams to erase suspicions on EJK

An official of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) has maintained that the city is not a killing ground for drug personalities and that policemen do not adhere to extrajudicial killings (EJK)

“Walay EJK sa syudad ug dili kini killing ground para sa mga drug personalities, ”Cocpo spokesperson Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II said.

However, Hortillosa said the city is a dangerous place for drug players because Cocpo will not allow the menace of dangerous drugs to persist and destroy the lives of the people.

He said the Cocpo’s drug enforcement units will continue its relentless operations against drug suspects even if it either scores deaths because suspects fought back or successful arrests.

“Dili namo tugotan nga magpadayon sila kay operationan gyud namo sila either at the end of the story mamatay sila kay nisukol or buhi sila nga maaresto kay daghan man ta successful operation nga

wala misukol ang mga suspects,”Hortillosa said.

The Cocpo spokesman explained that operatives have continued risking their lives in carrying out the government’s war on drugs even some raises doubts about the operations.

“Walay problema sa amo kung magduda ang uban pero wala man nagpataka’g pamatay ang Cocpo kundili gibuhat namo para sa kaayuhan sa tanan,”he added.

Hortillosa said they want, as much as possible, all members of the operating team wear body camera to capture all angles of the operations.

But, he said until now they are still waiting from the higher headquarters for the units.

Hortillosa said budgetary constraints may have cause the delay of the procurement of the body cameras.

“Gapaabot pami kay depende mana sa higher headquarters kung duna pud available nga pondo,”he said.

He also said they could not just also ask the city government for body cameras because even their request for the supplemental budget for fuel and drug fund has not been approved yet.

“Kung kami lang mas maayo nga dunay body camera kada operatiba para mawala ang pagduda sa katawhan pero lang ang available nga pondo,”he added.
