SP to deliberate on proposed P6.5 B exec budget for 2019
THE 18th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy will soon start deliberations on the city’s executive budget for 2019.
In his budget message, Mayor Oscar Moreno said it is estimated that the total resources of the city for the budget year will reach a total of P6.5 billion, P5,880,540,781 from the General Fund and P619,459,219 from the Special Account-Economic Enterprises.
According to the mayor, the objectives of the city next year will be to provide more responsive social services along education, health, adequate shelter assistance, employment opportunities, agricultural and fishery extension services.
Among others, the government will also work to provide sustainable job generation and employment opportunities by strengthening the City Jobs Placement Bureau to translate job vacancies into employment to better service job seekers and provide capability building for the development of micro and small enterprises to uplift the economic status of individuals and groups. In ensuring food security, it shall sustain the efforts along good agricultural practices, technical support on organic farming and clustering of vegetable production, among others.
Tax Revenues under local sources contribute P3,207,563,027 or 49.35-percent of the total budget while Non-Tax Revenue is P1,022,336,806 or 15.73-percent of the total proposed budget.
The city government expects external sources to reach P1,761,935,967 or 27.11-percent of the total budget of which Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) is P1,665,355,967, or 25.62-percent, an increase of about 10.13-percent from the 2018 level.
