-

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Northern Mindanao has selected a family in Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental as this year’s Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya.

The Dablo Family, an active beneficiary of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is living in the fishing village of Kabulawan in Lagonglong.

Rex, the father is a fisherman while his wife Genevieve, sells the catch to their neighbors to sustain the needs of the family. The children: Hannah Regie, Regine, and Mahonri Moriancumar help their parents though shared household chores like preparing meals, cleaning the house, washing the dishes, and laundry.

The DSWD said the family’s eldest child Hannah Regie is a consistent honor student and now a freshman student of University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines taking up Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.

Regine and Mahonri are also achievers, with Regine now a full scholar in Liceo de Cagayan University.

“Ultimately, the Dablo Family maintain a Godcentered life, demonstrate positive Filipino values, and created an impact to their community. The family is filled with an atmosphere tempered and flavored with the acts of kindness, respect, humility, love and prayer which makes them a Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya,” the DSWD said.

The search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya was launched in 2012, and aims to highlight the role of the Filipino family as the core in support to building stronger foundation of our nation.

The annual Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya recognizes outstanding family beneficiaries who maintain strong family ties, demonstrate positive Filipino values, and have a positive impact in the community where they reside.

Through this search, Pantawid Pamilya families also showcase the improvement in their lives as the fruits of their own hard work and inspire the whole country despite the challenges they experience brought about by poverty. PJ Orias
