RTA to identify accident-prone areas
City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a has asked the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) to submit a list of accident-prone streets or areas in the city to warn motorists and prevent accidents.
Sabuga-a said he particularly asked the list of areas where accidents often
happen at least 3 years back. After coming up with a list, the city will put up strong messages such as, pointing out how many died at the said street due to road accident.
Sabuga-a said he is also looking into the possibility of getting an insurance for all of the city
government’s properties.
“The insurance is very helpful so that in times of disaster, you won’t sit and wait for the supplemental budget or whatever, because you have the insurance. If streetlights will be damaged, schools and buildings will be burned down, the recovery of our infrastructure is fast,” he added.
This move was initiated following an accident in Mastersons
Avenue, Ilaya, barangay Carmen on Sunday night, November 11. The car allegedly lost control and hit a post and a traffic signage in the said area.
The couple who were inside the car, were allegedly having sex while the car was moving when the accident happened.
“We are still waiting for the report and we could possibly impose fines,” he added.
