Caraga po­lice in­ten­si­fies op­er­a­tions vs il­le­gal log­ging

The Po­lice Re­gional Of­fice 13 over the week­end seized a to­tal of P164,713 worth of il­le­gally cut lum­bers in Agu­san del Sur as it in­ten­si­fies its cam­paign against il­le­gal log­ging this De­cem­ber.

Po­lice op­er­a­tives of San Luis Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion in Agu­san del Sur and agents of the De­part­ment of En­vi­ron­ment and Nat­u­ral Re­sources (DENR) con­fis­cated a to­tal of 20.75 cu­bic me­ter of mixed dipte­ro­carp logs worth Php 103,650.00 in Km. 19, Brgy. Don Ale­jan­dro, San Luis, Agu­san del Sur, while in Esper­anza,

Agu­san del Sur, 1,609.20 board feet lauan lum­bers with mar­ket value of Php 40,225.00 were also con­fis­cated.

Mean­while, P20,838 worth of mixed dipte­ro­carp logs were also con­fis­cated by 3 sep­a­rate op­er­a­tions con­ducted by Veru­ela MPS, Siba­gat MPS, Rosario MPS and DENR agents.

Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Gilberto Cruz, PRO-13 re­gional direc­tor urged the pub­lic to re­port any in­for­ma­tion and where­abouts of the sus­pects of the six sep­a­rate op­er­a­tions who re­main at large.

“This suc­cess is at­trib­uted to the com­bined ef­forts of the PNP, DENR and other part­ner agen­cies in pro­tect­ing and con­serv­ing the forests in Caraga re­gion,” Cruz said.

“Aside from war against il­le­gal drugs and other crim­i­nal­i­ties, Caraga po­lice are also fo­cused on com­bat­ing all forms of il­le­gal log­ging to en­sure the pro­tec­tion and preser­va­tion of the en­vi­ron­ment and nat­u­ral re­sources,” he added.
