Com­mit­tee okays P62.7-M bud­get for agri­cul­ture

The city’s agri­cul­tural and fish­eries de­vel­op­ment projects will get a P62.7 mil­lion fund by 2019.

The City Coun­cil com­mit­tee of the whole ap­proved on Thurs­day the City’s Agri­cul­tural Pro­duc­tiv­ity Of­fice (APO), which in­cludes the up­grad­ing and con­cret­ing of farm to mar­ket roads worth P200,000, the city In­te­grated Coastal Man­age­ment Pro­gram worth P3.4 mil­lion, and farm youth de­vel­op­ment pro­gram worth P315,000.

Also ap­proved are the bud­gets for the Ru­ral Women Man­age­ment En­trepreneurial De­vel­op­ment pro­ject worth P445,000, the Liveli­hood En­hance­ment for Small Farm­ers worth P105,000.

Other APO projects in­clude City Seedling Prop­a­ga­tion Pro­ject with a bud­get worth P441, 350, the es­tab­lish­ment of an Agri­cul­tural Train­ing Cen­ter in barangay San Si­mon worth P3.2 mil­lion, among oth­ers.

City Coun­cilor Edna Dahino said they are try­ing hard to fin­ish the bud­get de­lib­er­a­tions be­fore the Christ­mas break or be­fore the year ends, so that the bud­get pro­posal will be el­e­vated to the City Coun­cil and get ap­proved by Jan­uary of 2019.

This week, the com­mit­tee of the whole has cov­ered and ap­proved the bud­gets of the Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fice and the city’s pro­gram for peace and or­der.
