Brgy. 26, Pagatpat win Pasko de Oro Icon contest
BARANGAYS 26 and Pagatpat won as grand champions for the urban and rural barangay categories respectively, of Cagayan de Oro City’s Pasko de Oro Icons Contest which started last December 10, 2018.
The grand winners were awarded with cash prizes worth P250,000 each during the awarding ceremony last Monday, January 7, at the city hall.
The second and third winners for the urban and rural barangay categories were also awarded. Barangay 38 for urban category and Barangay Indahag for rural category won second place, receiving cash prizes of P100,000 each.
They were followed by Barangay 22 for urban category and Barangay Tablon for rural category, winning third place and were each given P50,000 worth of cash prize.
Pasko de Oro Icons contest is a competition among the rural and urban barangays of Cagayan de Oro City, with the 26 participating barangays showcasing their own versions of the Christmas icon assigned to them.
Barangay 26’s Christmas symbol was snowflakes while Barangay Pagatpat has the gifts.
The Christmas icons were displayed at the Gaston Park. The judges for the contest were given three judging days, with the first day held on December 10.
Patrick Gabutina, the Office for Community Affairs overseer and the Pasko de Oro coordinator, expressed his gratitude to the barangays that participated in the contest and was hopeful that more barangays will take part in the Pasko de Oro activities in 2019.
