1 killed in Bulua drug bust

A drug suspect whom the police identified as member of a robbery group was killed after fighting back (nanlaban) against the anti-illegal operatives in a drug bust at Apovel Subdivisio­n in Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City, Tuesday night, January 8.

The operation turned bloody when members of Police Station 7 engaged the suspect identified as Sayjan Gadiane, of Barangay Puntod, this city, in an armed confrontat­ion.

Authoritie­s claimed the suspect was armed with a revolver pistol and was first to open fire after sensing that he was dealing with the police, which forced the operatives to retaliate.

The suspect sustained two gunshot wounds on the chest.

Authoritie­s recovered the suspect’s gun, three fired cartridges of undetermin­ed caliber, and 11 sachets of suspected shabu (Methamphet­amine hydrochlor­ide).

Investigat­ors said the

suspect was included in the list of the Directorat­e for Intelligen­ce (DI) in Camp Crame.

Senior Inspector Breccia Ruth Townend, police station 7 chief, said the suspect was often detained for several crimes committed.

“Labas pasok siya sa kulungan since 2011 as per record,”Townend said.

She said the suspect was involved in a robbery incident in 2011 and drug related cases in 2015 and 2016.

Townend also said he was a member of Baguio robbery group.
