SHOWCASING the culture and talent of the different municipalities of Misamis Oriental, the Provincial Government, through tourism department, organized a three-night cultural presentation as part of this year’s Kuyamis Festival celebration.

Held in three different locations, the cultural presentation started last Monday, January 7, until Wednesday, January 9, several skilled groups and individuals from different municipalities of the province showed off their talents in singing, dancing and playing instruments.

The first night of the cultural presentation was held at Lourdes Bay resort, Binuangan, with the performers coming from the BalingasagMagsaysay Cluster.

The second night was at the Tagoloan Dome, wherein the singers and dancers came from the municipalities of Jasaan, Opol, Villanueva, Tagoloan, and others from the Jasaan-El Salvador City Cluster.

The third night was held at the Initao Gym, with the presenters coming from the municipalities of Initao, Alubijid, Laguindingan, Libertad, Manticao, Naawan, and others from the AlubijidLugait Cluster.

Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano, who educated the audiences on the history of Misamis Oriental and the significance of Kuyamis in the province, was present in every cultural presentation, together with the mayors of the municipalities involved in the event.

Emano also expressed his gratitude to the support and cooperation of the mayors and village chiefs for the celebration of this year’s Kuyamis Festival.

The provincial governor also took pride in sharing the growth in the tourism industry of the province.

The audiences feasted their eyes on the colorful and intricate costumes and graceful moves of the groups who danced to some Philippine cultural music. They were wowed by the high and long notes the singers held as they sang to classic, original Filipino songs and were loudly cheering at the rappers and beatboxers who performed amazingly.

One can truly see how the culture of the Filipinos evolved throughout the years, especially with the influence from other countries, particularly the westerners as modern songs were also played and performed during the three-night shows.

Boosting the tourism industry of Misamis Oriental has been one of Emano’s goal as its governor, putting high efforts in promoting the tourist destinations and culture of the province as well as making Misamis Oriental known for the Kuyamis Festival.
