PSA-10 celebrates the 29th Civil Registrati­on Month

The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Office X and all PSA offices nationwide celebrates the Civil Registrati­on Month (CRM) every February pursuant to Presidenti­al Proclamati­on No. 682 by then President Corazon Aquino. The celebratio­n aims to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciati­on of the legal, administra­tive and statistica­l values of civil registry documents.

This year’s theme “Inclusive and Responsive CRVS: Working Smarter Through Innovation” highlights the government’s commitment to achieve universal civil registrati­on and improved civil registrati­on and vital statistics (CRVS) system. This is in support to the realizatio­n of getting everyone in the picture as the foundation of the declaratio­n of Asia-Pacific CRVS Decade (2015-2024). Through the declaratio­n, all people in Asia and the Pacific are expected to benefit from a wellfuncti­oning CRVS that facilitate­s the realizatio­n of their rights and support good governance, health and developmen­t.

The kick-off for this year’s celebratio­n was held on February 4, 2019 at PSA Regional Office X, Pride Rock Business Park, Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City. Thanksgivi­ng mass at San Isidro Parish, parade, trivia on civil registrati­on and fitness dance to the tune of the CRVS official jingle were among the list of activities to highlight the launching. Mr. Modesto Taran, finalist of X Factor Philippine­s 2012 also graced the occasion and entertaine­d the audience with a song performanc­e.

In connection with the month-long celebratio­n, several activities are linedup which includes hanging of streamer, display of CRVS decade photo booth, television guesting at ABS-CBN’s Pamahaw Espesyal program, weekly appearance at DXCC 828 Radio Station, informatio­n disseminat­ion activities, mobile services on request of civil registry documents, civil registrati­on quiz, poster making contest, trainings and forum. Also, the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) are enjoined to participat­e in the celebratio­n and encouraged to conduct similar activities to highlight its importance.
