PSA-10 celebrates the 29th Civil Registration Month
The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Office X and all PSA offices nationwide celebrates the Civil Registration Month (CRM) every February pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 682 by then President Corazon Aquino. The celebration aims to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents.
This year’s theme “Inclusive and Responsive CRVS: Working Smarter Through Innovation” highlights the government’s commitment to achieve universal civil registration and improved civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) system. This is in support to the realization of getting everyone in the picture as the foundation of the declaration of Asia-Pacific CRVS Decade (2015-2024). Through the declaration, all people in Asia and the Pacific are expected to benefit from a wellfunctioning CRVS that facilitates the realization of their rights and support good governance, health and development.
The kick-off for this year’s celebration was held on February 4, 2019 at PSA Regional Office X, Pride Rock Business Park, Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City. Thanksgiving mass at San Isidro Parish, parade, trivia on civil registration and fitness dance to the tune of the CRVS official jingle were among the list of activities to highlight the launching. Mr. Modesto Taran, finalist of X Factor Philippines 2012 also graced the occasion and entertained the audience with a song performance.
In connection with the month-long celebration, several activities are linedup which includes hanging of streamer, display of CRVS decade photo booth, television guesting at ABS-CBN’s Pamahaw Espesyal program, weekly appearance at DXCC 828 Radio Station, information dissemination activities, mobile services on request of civil registry documents, civil registration quiz, poster making contest, trainings and forum. Also, the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) are enjoined to participate in the celebration and encouraged to conduct similar activities to highlight its importance.
