FOUR persons were killed, while five others, including two policemen, were injured in random shootings in Teresa, Rizal on Thursday evening, February 7.

Teresa Police Chief Marinel Ronda identified the suspect as John Albert Araojo.

She said Araojo shot his first victim, identified as Ruben Francisco, for no apparent reason around 6:05 p.m. The shooting happened in front of Francisco’s residence in Barangay Bagumbayan, Teresa, Rizal.

Along his way, Araojo also suddenly shot Wilfredo Lukban, Celso Bernales, and Marvin Miotin, who all died on the spot.

Renato Dacuya, Edrick John Borac, Joel Gasingan, Police Officer (PO) 3 Emillano Pantaleon, and PO1 Eleuterio Mina were hurt in the incident.

Ronda said the suspect fled toward Morong, Rizal onboard a motorcycle he stole.

“Nagco-conduct na po ng follow-up operations ang ating mga kapulisan sa lugar at sa mga posibleng puntahan ng suspect. Wala na siya dito pero baka bumalik. Nakikipag-ugnayan na tayo sa mga kamag-anak niya at pinakikiusapan natin na isuko nalang po nila ang suspect,” she said.

(Our policemen are conducting follow-up operations. They are checking areas where the suspect may possible go. He’s no longer here but he might come back. We are coordinating with the relatives of the suspect and asked them to surrender him to police.)
