SP thanks NEDA for fast tracking dev't of Metro Cdeo Masterplan

-

THE 18th City Council on its regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy adopted separate resolutions expressing profound gratitude and appreciation to the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) – Central Office and (NEDA) – Region 10 for keeping abreast the Sangguniang Panlungsod and keeping track of the progress on the preparation of the Masterplan for Metro Cagayan de Oro, and for facilitating the procurement of Consulting Services for the purpose.

This, after Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya informed the legislative body of the actions made by the said agency based on its letter-reply dated January 15, 2019 signed by Adoracion M. Navarro, OIC-NEDA Central Office.

It may be recalled that on Nov. 26, 2018, Councilor Nacaya sponsored Resolution No. 13146-2018, urging NEDA to give preferential attention to the bidding of the design and implementation of the urban renewal development plan of Metropolitan Cagayan de Oro.

“We are happy to inform that there is now progress and development on the actions of NEDA in fast tracking, if possible, since consultancy services had already been bidded out and awarded to the joint corporations,” Nacaya reported.

NEDA has facilitated the procurement of consultancy services for the formulation of the Masterplan for the Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Development in Metropolitan Cagayan de Oro for which the Notice of Award was issued on the 10th of December, 2018. NEDA Regional Office 10 will be the implementing executing agency for the study.

The winning bidder of the project is the joint venture of CPRM Consultants, Inc. and Transport and Traffic Planners, Inc., the letter cited.

The Masterplan aims to guide decision-makers in the preparation and approval of plans, policies and programs, activities and projects for implementation in the urban growth center and thus ultimately improve the competitiveness, security and resiliency from disaster and general urban condition of the metropolitan area, The Power learned.

“We will forward this information to the Office of the City Mayor, City Planning Officer and to all other concern offices so that they will take appropriate actions in collaboration with the regional office of NEDA-10 considering that it is the executive body that will implement this undertaking,” Nacaya further said.

It can be recalled that as the chairperson of the committee on planning and development, Councilor Nacaya held several meetings with NEDA’s top executives concerning the propelling of metropolitan Cagayan de Oro.

The legislation was jointly and favorably endorsed by all members of the City Council. (SP/JAO)
