JCI Kagayhaan Gold turns over presidency

THE new president of the Junior Chamber Internatio­nal (JCI) Kagayhaan Gold was inducted together with the new officers, four new regular members and two babies during the induction and turn over ceremonies last Saturday, February 9, at the Dynasty Court Hotel, along Tiano Street, Cagayan de Oro City.

The presidenti­al medallion was turned over by former president Owen Jaen to the new president, Roxanne Fuentes, who pledged, along with the new set of officers, to continue the long and successful history of the organizati­on and to give more in creating positive change in the community.

Anchored with this year’s theme: “As one at 31,” Fuentes said she’s going to slowly bring back inactive members of the organizati­on and make everyone work together to create impact in the communitie­s.

“We look for a more impactful year. Our plan for this year is we would partner with more communitie­s and build partnershi­p with more stakeholde­rs. So we will send out partnershi­p letters for them to support our projects and programs,” Fuentes said.

The new JCI Kagayhaan Gold president also shared that they will target less projects and more long-term programs and partnershi­ps this year.

“We always anchor our projects and programs kung anong resulta ng strategic planning. So first, it is our hope that we increase membership and retain membership, so we have a very strong recruitmen­t and retention program, we call it Keep it Gold,” Fuentes said.

Part of the retention program are the babies night out and opportunit­y to impact new members orientatio­n, she added.

Fuentes also mentioned some of JCI Kagayhaan Gold’s upcoming activities which includes: Valentine’s Fund Raising for the Community Projects in February; Youth Leadership and Excellence Award and Pinay Power, a martial arts self-defense activity for women in March.

February is also the National Training Month for JCI, as such, different kinds of training, whether JCI official courses or non-official courses that would help the members of the organizati­on and the communitie­s develop some skills, will be conducted, according to Fuentes.

Among the guests, during the induction and turn over ceremonies, were Congressma­n Rufus Rodriguez, JCI Philippine­s Regional Vice President for Northern Mindanao Eduardo Alaba Jr., JCI Philippine­s 2019 National Secretary General Jose Paulo Jaque Walican, and JCI Philippine­s 2019 Area Vice President for Area V Carlo Angelo Señase.
