Sweet Valentine’s with JCI Kagayahaan Gold’s ‘Kilig Goodies’

- Jo Ann Sablad

IN LINE with the celebration of Valentine’s Day last Thursday, February 14, the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kagayhaan Gold had their fundraising activity called “Kilig Goodies,” wherein the proceeds will be donated to the organization’s community projects.

A set consisting of a layer of Dream Cake in tin can, a teddy bear and large Valentine’s greeting card was sold for P1,000 to clients who wanted to purchase a gift to offer to their loved ones during the day of love.

According to the Project Chairman and JCI Kagayhaan Gold Executive Vice President Keny Waban, the money from the fundraising activity will be put in their chapter fund for future community projects, particularly for the activities planned for JCI Week in April.

Last year’s JCI Week, Waban shared, had the organization helping people in prisons.

The JCI executive vice president added that part of the money will also go to their back-to-school program set in May.

A total of 25 sets were sold during the activity, Waban said. And due to the success of the activity, JCI Kagayhaan Gold is planning on doing the same this March.

“We are planning to do it again since our activity was successful. We’re planning on doing it on March since its graduation. We are selling it so parents can buy it for their children or relatives who are graduating this March,” Waban said, adding that instead of the bear and Valentine’s themed greeting card, they will pair the cake with something in line with the graduation.

JCI Kagayhaan Gold is a non-profit organization composed of young professionals and businessmen in Cagayan de Oro City.
