Deloso files extension of leave
Ambush survivor Police Superintendent Michael John Deloso has again failed to show up at the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) headquarters yesterday, after he applied for another extension of his medical leave, a police official said.
PRO-10 spokesperson Superintendent Surki Serenas said Deloso was supposed to report for duty after his last 30 days medical leave expired Tuesday, but he filed for another extension of 15 days.
“Supt. Deloso is supposed to report for duty but I was informed that he is applying for extension of his medical leave,”Serenas said.
This is the third time that Deloso requested the regional headquarters to extend his leave.
However, Deloso’s third application for extension was not yet approved as the Regional Personnel and Human Resources and Development Division (RPHRDD) still has to act and process his application.
The process includes receipt of leave application, checking of available leave applicable, endorsement of immediate supervisor, recommending approval of RPHRDD chief and approval of the regional director.
“He can avail all the leave accorded to government employees duly authorized by the Civil
Service Commission (CSC) and the law. Whatever he is entitled, will be given to him,”Serenas said.
However, Serenas said he is unsure as to the number of leave of absence allowed under the CSC.
“Although there are basic leave every government employee is entitled to, such as: sick leave, vacation leave, emergency leave, etc., there are special leave that vary from one officer to another, like the medals receive which is convertible to leave and other leave applicable. Hence, it varies,”he added.
Serenas said the application for extension of Deloso’s leave is again based on the physician’s advice.
He also said his office has been trying several times to reach Deloso but to no avail.
“I do not know if he is communicating with our admin officer or his immediate superior. As far as our office is concerned, we have exerted efforts to contact him, but he could not be reached,”Serenas said.
Deloso survived an ambush last November 20. He filed frustrated murder charges against two police anti-illegal drug operatives a month after.
