NPA’s movement in MisOr monitored

-

THE army’s 58th Infantry Battalion (58IB) yesterday claimed that the New Peoples Army (NPA) is planning to launch activities that could disrupt peace and order in Misamis Oriental.

In a statement, the military said the plan of the Maoist guerillas was uncovered through the revelations of the former rebels

who have surrendered and abandoned the armed struggle, which was also reinforced from the reports of the higher headquarters.

It can be recalled that the military and the provincial government including other government agencies awarded the initial assistance to the 31 former NPA combatants through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

The military said among those recipient former rebels were positioned already on the leadership of the NPA units, such as squad leader and political officer, “who were aware of the planned atrocities and mobilization of the CPP-NPA.”

“The CPP-NPA terrorists including those on their legal fronts/organizations here in Misamis Oriental are planning to agitate and mobilize several sectors to compliment the planned attacks of the NPA, ”the military said quoting a supposed political officer of the NPA’s subregional committee 1.

The military said the statement was supported by reports from the army’s higher headquarters that the NPA and its legal fronts are planning to carry out a so-called “National Day of People’s Protest” and “Pambansang Walk-out sa Trabaho, Eskwelahan at mga Komunidad.”

The military added that the NPA will capitalize on extrajudicial killings and economic issues to draw participants including students from the different schools in Tagoloan, Villanueva and Claveria towns and Cagayan de Oro City.

58IB commander Lieutenant Colonel Roy Anthony Derilo is calling everyone to be alert on the supposed activities, even as he urged local government units to take actions to protect their constituents from exploitations.

“Ang CPP-NPA ay walang alam kundi manggulo. Sila ay nagbabalak na maglunsad ng Pambansang Walk-out at muli na naman nilang tangkaing guluhin ang pag-iisip ng mga tao,”Derilo said.

“Everyone must be conscious of their deception and lies. The former rebels who have recently surrendered said that their return to the folds of the government was brought upon their realization of the CPPNPA lies and deception in their propaganda,” he added. Alwen Saliring
