Alam claims majority support of brgy chairs
SOME thirty-three of the 56 second district barangay chairs have signed a manifesto supporting the 2nd district congressional candidacy of Kag. Alam Lim.
Over-all, 49 barangay captains of 80, in the two district expressed their support to Alam Lim. Lim was reelected president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in July 2018 with 46 votes.
Puntod barangay chairman Rex Tinampay has signified his support for Lim. Tinampay resigned as president of the Centrist Democratic Party (CDP), the political party of Lim’s rival Rufus Rodriguez, to support Lim.
Another is Agusan barangay captain Andrew “Ebod” Melliza who is running for city councilor in the second district.
The manifesto was released yesterday.
Last Tuesday, the second survey of Xavier University – Kinaadman University Research Office
saw Lim as the biggest gainer with 13 percentage points increase among candidates vying for 18 local government seats and two congressional seats in the May 13, 2019 election.
Lim climbed from 19.4% in the April 4 – 11 poll by XUKURO to 33% in the last survey.
Aside from the barangay captains, Lim also enjoys the support of the youth lead by the Sanguniang Kabataan Federation. SK Federation president, Kag, John Michael Seno is a vocal supporter of Lim. Last May 1, Seno mobilized over a thousand youth leaders in coastal cleanup cum endorsement of Lim at the Lapasan – Gusa bypassed road.
Nicole Managbanag, Padayon-CDP communications director meanwhile said downplayed the survey results.
