Moreno's camp claims presence of 2nd fake docu

- By PJ Orias

THE camp of Mayor Oscar Moreno deplores another document from Sandiganbayan stating that the mayor is suspended. Lawyer Dale Mordeno, Moreno's legal counsel, said the document "follows the same pattern" with the earlier Commission on

Elections (Comelec) document circulated online that Moreno was disqualified from the mayoralty race.

Such document was later on declared as fake by Comelec Commissioner Luie Tito Guia.

Mordeno also noted that, like the Comelec, the document was placed in the same kind of clothing as a background.

Aside from that, the document also has no seal from the Sandiganbayan.

“We can conclude that the document was not genuine, not the usual Sandiganbayan resolution,” he said.

“We are confident that it is fake,” he added. Mordeno however pointed out that despite these discrepancies, theye will still reach out to Sandiganbayan to verify the document.

If in case the anti-graft court confirms the authenticity of the said document, Mordeno said this has no effect to Mayor Moreno. He said he still can stay in office, while his legal counsel appeals the case.

Mordeno also warned that they will go after those people behind these fake documents.

Mordeno also said that William Guialani could be held accountable after claiming in several news reports that he has the original copy of the documents.

“Under the law, he is presumed to be the author of that paper. Kung mapatumatud-an nga fake, ug ma prove nga siya gapakalat sa social media, it is possible he can be charged,” he said.

“We will prosecute that person to the full extemlnt of the law,” he said.

The person responsible can be charged with usurpation of public authority, cyberlibel, and falsification of documents.
