Quiboloy: Duterte influence made admin bets win
PASTOR Apollo C. Quiboloy said on Saturday, May 18, that President Rodrigo Duterte’s influence ensured the victory of the administration’s senatorial candidates.
Quiboloy, founder and leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), The Name Above Every Name, Inc., said his congregation’s endorsement was just a part of their success.
“The President is the main influence because the people really like what he is doing. Our congregation is just part of that. And we would like to be a part of the president’s program,” Quiboloy said on Saturday during the formal launching of Jose Maria College’s (JMC) Doctor of Medicine at the Marco Polo Hotel.
The Davao-based church leader, whose endorsement is traditionally sought by candidates owing to his influence and on the huge membership of KJC, claims to have a congregation of over four million tithed followers in the Philippines, and two million followers outside the country.
He said his church supported all the choice candidates of the President.
“We would like him to succeed sa kanyang mga program lalo na yung pangako to address war on drugs, criminality, poverty. He needs all the support in the Congress and Senate kaya we went all out for his choice candidates and we thank God all of them are on the winning list,” Quiboloy said.
The pastor, earlier, was hesitant to endorse any candidates for the midterm elections, saying many of his political friends might feel bad when they are not endorsed.
However, he later announced his support for Ilocos Norte representative Imee Marcos, who made it to the “Magic 12”.
Quiboloy, meanwhile, called on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to investigate the discrepancies it has faced during the election, including transmission delays of electoral results and malfunctioned vote counting machines (VCMs) in some parts of the country. (SunStar Philippines)
