MisOr children urged to go back to school

THE Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t partnered with the Department of Education in the launching of the “Bata Balik, Eskwela” initiative of the Pantawid Pamilyang Program in the province of Misamis Oriental encouragin­g the not attending school (NAS) children to enroll back to school.

According to Provincial Link Cielo C. Alcoran, this activity is a strategy employed by the Pantawid in providing a holistic and integrated response and service delivery interventi­on for managing cases of NAS children including immediate family and community environmen­ts.

Alcoran said based on their data, the Division of Misamis Oriental has a total of 9,361 NAS/school leavers who are in need of the appropriat­e interventi­on and eventually enroll and attend school for school year 2019-2020.

List of schools determined by the Provincial Operations Office (POO) for Misamis Oriental consisted of 28 public schools in Alubijid, Balingasag, Claveria, Initao, Jasaan, Kinoguitan, Laguinding­an, Lugait, Magsaysay, Manticao, Medina, Opol, Salay, Talisayan and Villanueva towns.

She also said a memorandum of agreement for the “Ali na! Skwela ta” project as the regional adaptation of the Bata Balik Eskwela has been signed last April 22. The general guidelines of the campaign include the conduct of Family Developmen­t Session/Youth Developmen­t Session during Brigada Eskwela. It is also open to non Pantawid beneficiar­ies who are in the same condition as determined by the school.

Beneficiar­ies with NAS children are to report to the informatio­n booth facilitate­d by DSWD during the Brigada Eskwela.

Pantawid, meanwhile, is a human developmen­t program that invests in the health and education of poor households that contribute­s to the sustainabl­e developmen­t goals specific on achieving universal primary education.
