Miss CDO to replace 2 quitters
THE 12 candidates vying for the title of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019 made their first public
presentation on Monday’s flag raising ceremony at the City Hall quadrangle.
However, hours after the presentation, two of the candidates in Adel Ebarat and Veronica Valdez have decided to back out from the pageant.
City Fiesta Executive Committee Head Eileen San Juan said they will be replaced with two new candidates who were among the top 15 during the screening test.
“Usually that’s what we do, we have more. Actually from the ones nga nagpa screen, there were a lot of good ones but a big factor is the height,” San Juan said.
Among the more than 40 ladies who joined the screening for Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019, those who passed, apart from the two aforementioned candidates, were: Nicole Ramos from Barangay Balulang, Vincy Vacalares from Barangay Camaman-an, Souarthizae Violon from Barangay Kauswagan, Tasha Yalung from Barangay Carmen, Angelica Cudal from Barangay 40, Jasvincelou Damasco from Barangay Kauswagan, Ana Dimarucut from Barangay Macasandig, Kimberly Magdugo from Barangay Puntod, Pauline Pielago from Barangay Carmen, and Cindy Obeñita from Barangay Carmen.
“Medyo very competitive ang criteria kay isa sad niana aside, of course, from their personality and intelligence, height is also one nga very important criteria nga atong nakita,” San Juan said.
“Si Miss Mags, because she has been exposed to the Mutya ng Pilipinas nga mga competitions, iyang giseguro nga maayo ang quality sa mga candidates kay they are then future candidates also for national competitions,” she added.
Pocket events for Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019 were also announced during Monday morning’s program, including: press conference and talent competition in July and swim wear competition on August 3.
Higalaay Festival will also be launched on August 3, according to San Juan
