4ID Sgt Maj bids farewell to the ‘Dependable Troopers’

IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon – The 4th Infantry Division Sergeant Major Chief Master Sergeant Engracio S. Gabo Jr. visited the troops of the 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion prior to his designation as Armed Forces of the Philippines Sergeant Major, 13 July 2019.

Chief Master Sergeant Gabo spend his weekend visiting the Dependable troopers for the second time but this time announcing his exit as the 4th Infantry Division Sergeant Major. He was installed as the Division Sergeant Major last May 14, 2016 being the head of all Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO’s) of the Philippine Army in Region 10 and 13. He will take his next position as the AFP Sergeant Major leading all the NCO’s of the AFP. The non-commissioned officer is the backbone of the AFP making it an effective fighting force, without them the organization will not achieve its mission.

Master Sergeant Emeritus Babuyo, the 8th IB Sergeant Major expressed the unit support “this is the first time in history that the AFP Sergeant Major will rise from the 4th ID, the 8IB NCOs will fully support his new position as the AFP Sergeant Major.”

“I thanked Chief Master Sergeant Gabo for spending his weekend to the 8IB Army troopers, he will face his challenge to be the father of all enlisted personnel in the AFP; this is not an easy job but his experience will guide him to perform its best.” Lieutenant Colonel Ronald M Illana, the commanding officer of the 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army said in his statement.

“To the troops of the 8th IB, I am encouraging you to follow the footstep of Chief Master Gabo, who knows that one of these days you will be placed in such position.” He ended. PR
