- BY JO ANN SABLAD/ Reporter akareo143@gmail.com

THE school president of Initao College over the weekend admitted that the campus lacks security measures, but urged the public to stop pointing fingers as to who is to blame for the recent grenade explosion inside the school and find ways to help instead.

Initao College President Grace Lapinig said the campus is new in the area having only a fence made of bamboo.

“Ako ay nananawagan na sana, this is a government school, hindi lang sisihan nang sisihan. Kung pwede lahat magisip kung paano makakatulong at hindi lang natin iasa ang lahat sa local government,” Lapinig said.

“Alam naman natin na marami rin pong mga projects at marami rin pong pangangailangan na hindi agad-agad matustusan right there,” she added.

Although the school has security personnel who was not trained from a professional agency, Lapinig said they are coordinating with the barangay in terms of security.

“Sa mga nagyayari, talagang kailangan namin yung mapatayuan na yan ng fence at yung security measures,” Lapinig said.

On Thursday, November 28, a grenade exploded which killed a police officer, and wounded 16 civilians, including some students.

The 65-year-old Ebrahim Ampaso, who was carrying the grenade and ran amok inside the school, also died after being shot by the responding policemen.

Classes in Initao College remains suspended until further notice.

“To ensure while everything is still on process, hindi pa muna namin pinapabalik ang mga estudyante hanggang ma-establish po namin yung security measures namin,” Lapinig said.

ANTI-ILLEGAL drug operatives arrested two men who were caught using illegal drugs in Zone 5, Carmen, this city, over the weekend.

The suspects were identified as Jay Kemar Nuevo, 25, and Jay Kob Nuevo.

Seized from the suspects’ possession were a sachet of suspected ‘shabu’, drug paraphernalia and an 8-inch kitchen knife.

The suspects were caught after an informant tipped police of an ongoing pot session in the area.

Suspects are now detained and will face drug charges.
