Search for outstanding Filipinos launched in Oro

THE Metrobank Foundation Network of Outstanding Teachers and Educators (NOTED) in Northern Mindanao has began its information campaign for the Search for Outstanding Filipinos on Friday, November 29, at Pearlmont Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos is the most prestigious career-service award for Filipinos in the academe and security sectors.

“This is giving honor and awards to policemen, soldiers and teachers. Metrobank really wants to honor those who have dedication in their work, those who have served beyond excellence,” NOTED-Northern Mindanao Chapter President Dr. Mercelita Jandayan Labial, who is teaching in the graduate studies of Capitol University, said.

According to Labial, there will be 10 Outstanding Filipino awardees: four from the teachers sector, three from the police and three from the soldiers.

Each of the awardees will be receiving P1 million cash prize and a trophy.

Since the start of the search in 1985, more than 300 teachers from all over the country have been awarded as Outstanding Filipinos.

“Itong award talaga this honors the dedication, yung excellence at tsaka yung loyalty that the Filipinos give to the nation,” Labial said.

Labial, who was also an Outstanding Teacher Awardee in 2010, shared that being recognized as one of the outstanding Filipinos paved the way for her international engagements and opened new doors of opportunities.

“Basically we give our best in whatever things we do and if there’s an award which will come our way, that’s just a bonus because we are not working naman for the award, we’re working really to serve for the service of the country and for our nation,” Labial said.

The application for the Search for Outstanding Filipinos is ongoing. The deadline for the nomination will be on December 27 this year and the submission of documents for those who qualified will be on February 2020.

Results for those who passed the provincial level will be released in April next year. The national level results will be announced in August 2020 and the awarding is set to happen the following month. /JAS
