ORO NOW HAS 13 COVID-19 CASES
After another traveller from Cebu, a 45-year-old woman, tests positive for coronavirus in her second swab test
A 49-YEAR-OLD female resident of Barangay Kauswagan, this city is the new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) positive patient in Cagayan de Oro, bringing the total Covid-positive cases in the city to 13.
The latest case, at present, is admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) on Friday, May 29, due to fever and cough.
She also has co-morbidities consisting of diabetes and hypertension.
According to NMMC medical specialist Dr. Bernard Rocha, the 49-year-old woman came from Cebu. She had her swab tested 15 days prior to her admission at the NMMC as preparation for her travel back to Cagayan de Oro.
On May 16, her result tested negative. However, on May 21, Rocha said that the woman attended a dinner with four allegedly asymptomatic Covid-positive individuals.
The woman traveled back to Cagayan de Oro on May 24 and arrived on May 25 with complaints of nonproductive cough associated with colds and throat itchiness and was brought to the City Isolation Unit (CIU).
It was noted that she was experiencing a 38.4 degrees Celsius fever while in the CIU, hence she was swabbed and tested.
She was transferred to the NMMC after her test results turned positive.
At present, the 49-year-old woman is oxygenated, however, her status is stable, Rocha said.
