WAYS TO HEAL AFTER A HEARTBREAK

- Text: Patricia May P. Catan Writer

Relationships always involve risks and it’s up to you to choose whom you’re willing to take the risk for. But not all relationships end up with a happily every after. Sometimes going your separate ways is the right thing to do when you just couldn’t see a future with your partner. Breakups are honestly the hardest, not to mention the most painful episode any person can go through. It’s definitely one of the more challenging life lessons to accept, but if it means freedom for you, then it’s probably the best decision to make. When you want to release all the negative energy and depressing thoughts after an excruciating breakup, you might want to visit these places to find inner peace and happiness.

Sagada

If you’ve seen the indie movie That Thing Called Tadhana, you’ll understand why Sagada has become a popular destination for the brokenhearted. Maybe you can even channel the lead character Mace and watch the sunrise and scream your heart out in Mt. Kiltepan.

Siquijor

Siquijor is known as the magic island of the Philippines, but more than just the magic potions, shamans and sorcerers, this island is an idyllic setting for the nature lovers, ocean warriors and even the broken souls.

La Union

One of the best ways to cure a broken heart is through distraction and the fastest way to forget is learning a new sport. Surfing is a trend these days and you might want to try it at the surfing capital of the Philippines. Not only is La Union known for its surfing waves, but it’s also famed as the garden coast for its bountiful botanical gardens.

Batanes

It might be quite expensive to travel to Batanes, but the place is worth a trip for many beautiful things as it’s undeniably the most picturesque escape—from its stone houses and agglomerate hills to its glistening waters and boundless horizons. Apart from its picturepostcard scenery, what makes Batanes more beautiful are the Ivatan people.

Boracay

Heartbreaks may be the worst kind of feeling, but you can mend your fragile heart with a little bit of fun. If you fancy water activities and parties by the beach, Boracay is your island of choice. You can bask in the glory of its crystal clear waters and fine white sand in the morning and party to your heart’s content at night. You can even tag your barkada along for added fun.

Talicud Island

Some alone time is everything you need after a heart-wrenching split and Talicud Island in the Island Garden City of Samal is where you should spend your recovery period. This small island will instantly greet you with its glimmering waters and white shores that make for the most photogenic day at the beach. Its rich and diverse marine life completes the package for the adventuresome soul.
