Glaring signs he isn’t ‘the one’

- Text: Patricia May P. Catan Writer

Getting into a relationship isn’t a walk in the park. While the idea of having a significant other is truly heart fluttering, we sometimes ignore bright red signs that tell us something is wrong. Some hopeless romantics are often blinded by love, but don’t be one of them and learn to open your eyes to obvious truths. Here are 10 red flags to watch out for that might save you from unhealthy ties.

DOMINEERING BEHAVIOR.

When the person you’re dating is overly controlling of your life—from what you wear to whom you hang out with—it’s a major sign to just call things off.

Absence of trust.

When both of you can never be honest with each other, then there’s no point in staying in the relationship.

DISCOURTEOUSNESS.

The lack of courtesy, especially being rude to the waitstaff on date night is something that must not be disregarded.

IMMATURE HABITS

Showing a lack of emotional maturity is a telltale indication that the person is not fit to be in a serious relationship.

Prevailing insecurity.

A deep sense of insecurity can cause any relationship to hit rock bottom and it’s not at all attractive.

Implacable guilt tripping.

Emotional blackmailers will not do you any good and it’s smart to just let go because keeping them is not worth your time.

Abusive actions.

Abuse in any form—from verbal to emotional and physical—is never okay in a relationship. When your partner shows signs of abusive actions, it’s best to end things immediately.

Lack of communication.

Communication is key in every relationship. If your significant other fails to express his true feelings, expect for your relationship to fail, too.

Unresolved past.

Getting caught up in your beau’s unsettled issues with the past isn’t a pretty sight as it will only lead to the downfall of your relationship.

HEART LESS NESS.

When your partner is incapable of apologizing or is plain merciless, you’ll be doing yourself a favor by backing away slowly.
