THE Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) management committee wants to raise the entrance fee of the facility by P5.

That means, for day users, entrance will be P15, and for night users (starting at 6 p.m.), entrance will be P20.

The P40-million repair of the rubberized track oval at the CCSC is finished and the facility will soon be opened to the public.

Repairs began in January after the Sinulog 2012 celebration.

Necessicity

The blessing will take place tomorrow, to coincide with the opening of the 2012 Private Schools Athletic Association.

CCSC manager Ricky Ballesters told Sun.star Cebu the increase is nec- essary so the facility can compete with other sports centers in the country.

He said the money will be used to maintain the facility.

He said the current rates have not been raised since the facility opened in 1994.

“Karon pa gyud ta maka- increase sukad-sukad (This will be the first increase),” he said.

Not yet final

Ballesteros considered the proposed increase minimal, saying other sports centers in the country charge P30 or P40 for entrance.

However, he said the management committee still has to further discuss the matter.

The management committee is composed of officials of the Department of Education 7, Cebu City School’s Division and the chairman of the City Council’s committee on education.

The track oval, which has Olympic dimensions, was built in 1994 in time for Cebu’s hosting of the Palarong Pambansa.
