Teddy: No decision yet on vice gubernatorial bid

-

CEBU Provincial Board Member Thadeo “Teddy” Ouano denied rumors he will run for vice governor in next year’s elections.

In an interview with reporters yesterday, Ouano said the One Cebu party has not discussed the matter yet.

Asked if he will run for vice governor if the party will ask him to, he said it would be an honor for him, but he still has to think about it.

“Ato pa nang hunahunaon kay dako na kaayo na (I will have to think about it first because that’s a high position),” he said.

He added that there are other individuals qualified to run for vice governor, such as businessman Glen Soco.

Ouano said Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes has assured him that the Liberal Party (LP) in Mandaue will support him even if he is not a member of the party.

The party, he said, will consider him as “guest candidate.”

Earlier, Ouano’s daughter, Mandaue City Councilor Emmarie “Lollipop” OuanoDizon, announced her transfer to LP. Dizon used to be with the opposition party.

Councilor Editha Caba- hug also left the opposition party and joined the LP.

Their transfer is part of efforts to unite the city’s major political families in the 2013 elections, Cortes said in a press conference last month.

Ouano expressed his support for Cortes, saying he has yet to see a potential candidate who can match the mayor’s popularity.
