Actor joins San Remigio motocross

MOTOCROSS spectators from the northern part of Cebu will be treated to a two-day adrenaline rush in the star-studded second and third legs of the MS Motosuit Motocross Series today and tomorrow in San Remegio.

Today, riders from Luzon and Mindanao will have their time competing against the celebrated daredevils of Cebu, led by Jon-jon Adlawan, John Flores and brothers Jovannie and Juvenil Abellar at the improvised Barangay Tambongon racetrack for the 1st Tambongon Youth Festival Motocross race.

And on Sunday, actor and motocross rider Jordan Herrera will add glitter to the 14th Ornopia Motocross Cup in Barangay Calambua.

“We have the national riders coming to race this weekend. And on Sunday, Jordan Herrera will join us in Calambua,” said series organizer Lou Ornopia during the Scoop-cebu forum at Baseline Restaurant yesterday.

Ornopia confirmed that the entire Sel-j Motocross Team will be coming to Cebu to invade the local race tracks.

“Sel-j Motocross team will be led by president and team owner Jay Lacnit. We will also have Dondon Yuzon, Winsor Famorca from the Sel-j team and from Mindanao, we have Ted Conde. This will be an exciting weekend. Not only because we have back-to-back races in two different places, but this is a gathering of the best riders in the Philippines. We also have a celebrity rider coming to compete,” Ornopia said.

Mayor Butch Sepulveda of Borbon town, who was also one of the guests in the weekly sports forum, shared Ornopia’s view on the upcoming races in the north.

Sepulveda will host the fifth leg, the 2nd Mayor Butch Sepulveda Motocross Cup in Logo, Borbon on May 29.

“We need to educate the motorcycle riders, especially the habal-habal drivers, on the proper way to drive a motorcycle. Through motocross races, we can educate them and also inspire people to try this sport,” said Sepulveda.

The fourth leg—the Panugnawan Motocross Competition—will be on May 19.

Aside from the usual race categories, Ornopia added the Underbone Category for the small bikes.
