Osmeña's ‘That's cool'

- EDDIE O. BARRITA

REP. Tomas Osmeña (Cebu City, south district) said his Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) would probably still affiliate with the Liberal Party (LP) in the 2013 polls.

But he said they are not dependent on any political party.

“It’s good if they (LP) will help us; if they don’t, it’s okay, that’s cool,” Osmeña said. That sounds un-cool, isn’t it? Osmeña was reported to have a verbal tussle with LP president Mar Roxas in a coffee shop in Banilad, Cebu City.

He also admitted he was pissed off and ranted about LP’s promise to its gubernatorial bet lawyer Hilario “Junjun” Davide III that never materialized.

LP leaders should better watch out when Osmeña says, “That’s cool.” Osmeña said Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama regretted (“nagmahay”) because he was not invited during President Noynoy Aquino’s visit to Danao City last Saturday.

Mike Rama said that Osmeña’s “pathetic orientation” is that he (Osmeña) is happy when he (Rama) is sad. “Sagdi na lang (Let him be),” Rama said. That’s cool, Mayor Mike. LP has forged a coalition with the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud) of Danao City Vice Mayor Nito Durano in Cebu’s fifth district, and soon, with the Alayon of Rep. Eduardo Gullas in Cebu’s first district.

If LP maintains an alliance with BOPK, LP would literally steamroll Cebu in the 2013 elections.

But original LP members eased out in these alliances would say, “That’s cool.” Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño’s “Meatless Monday” bill for elementary and secondary schools seeks to promote the habit of eating vegetables.

Casiño apparently assumes all students in the country are eating meat throughout the week.

The Monday meat ban would be fine for students who are eating vegetables every day.

They can say, “That’s cool, congressman.”
