A SUSPECTED thief was found dead on a beach in Barangay Cansujong, Talisay City, Cebu yesterday morning.

SPO2 Gerome Abatayo of the Talisay City Police Station identified the victim as Rogelio Bas, 35.

The victim’s feet and neck were hogtied with a telephone wire. He had several bruises on his body.

Bas’s alleged involvemen­t in several theft incidents may have been the motive for his murder, Abatayo said.

Bas, a resident of Ba- rangay Poblacion, Talisay City, had been arrested before for allegedly stealing a water meter of the Metropolit­an Cebu Water District, he said.

Road ambush

In a separate incident, a laborer was killed while his daughter was injured after they were gunned down by a motorcycle-riding assailant in Barangay Cogon, Danao City, Cebu at dawn yesterday.

Concordio Arenas, 54, was shot in the left chest, arm, head and chin. His

daughter Niña Mae, 19, had a gunshot wound in the arm.

Concordio was taking his daughter to work on board his motorcycle. When they got to Sitio Langlang, the unidentifi­ed man suddenly appeared and fired at them.
